DEFESCO is a registered non-governmental organization based in Mwanza, Tanzania that has been in operation since the year 2003. It was founded by a group of professional teachers along with other people who had a similar vision. We provide services to orphans, disabled and destitute children who are in secondary schools, high schools and colleges.
Currently the centre supports approximately 100 beneficiaries of whom 60 are girls 40 are boys. The youth come to the centre before and after school hours because students in Tanzania attend school in two shifts - some in the morning and others in the afternoon. DEFESCO provide them with supplementary education (focusing on math, the sciences, geography and English), tuition, school materials, counseling, etc. to the extent that their funds allow. Currently their funding is derived from a handful of students who are able to pay for supplementary education. |

Mission:
DEFESCO is committed to empowering orphans and destitute youth through striving towards academic excellence so that they are able to compete equally in society and eventually be able to contribute positively to the development of Tanzania and the world. We also want our beneficiaries to be able to face the challenges of life and grow into responsible, generous, loving and industrious adults. |
